Naples, FL - Justin Thomas, a 16-year-old from Goshen, KY won the 15th Terra Cotta Invitational with a six-under 66 on a rainy day at Naples National Golf Club. Thomas, who has made a verbal commitment to attend Alabama, birdied 4 of the first 5 holes then birdied the 8th hole to make the turn at 31 then played steady golf with pars until he made a final birdie on the 18th hole to win by three shots over Houston's Cory Whitsett. Whitsett, who has also committed to attend Alabama shot a final round 69 for a 54-hole total of 211, 5-under par. Whitsett, the 2007 US Junior Amateur Champion was second in 2008.

2009 Walker Cup

The Terra Cotta Invitational was well represented on the victorious 2009 Walker Cup Team at Merion GC.

Captain Captain Buddy Marucci, Nathan Smith, Peter Uihlein, Bud Cauley, Morgan Hoffmann, and Brendan Gielow all played in the Terra Cotta. Uihlein and Cauley are past Terra Cotta champions having won in 2007 and 2008 respectively.

2010 NCAA DIVISION I NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

Four of the five members of the 2010 NCAA Division I Champion Augusta State Jaguars, Patrick Reed, Mitch Krywulycz, Carter Newman and Taylor Floyd along with their coach, Josh Gregory played in the 2010 Terra Cotta Invitational.
